Scanned paper photography found in my archives.
I shot this one in Tananarive (Madagascar) in 1969 with a Leica IIIg. I developed it and printed it myself with a "DURST" enlarger in the darkroom I had there.

Oh what a good find! And such a good scene. The historical angle increases the interest. I wonder how different this scene would look today? Photo scanned very well!
richard standley: Many thanks for your kind appreciation Daroru. I presume this scene would have a totally different look today.
Fantastic street shot in excellent quality. Scanned from paper ? Wow !
richard standley: Many thanks Cako.
lovely b&w picture.

A fascinating vintage scene.

I am very impressed, Richard. 1969 was a looooong time ago.
richard standley: A long long time ago indeed Ginnie! Thank you.
Magnificent image Richard and to know you developed it yourself. You are a real photographer and fabulous one at that.
I love the street scene, it is so interesting making me look around at others way of life and during a previous time. I see tables and this woman who appears to have prepared a meal right there for her husband. Perhaps he is working or about to leave on a job mission. Like something from National Geographic.
richard standley: Many thanks for your very kind words and interpretation Barb. Much appreciated.
Lovely!
richard standley: Thank you Ashwaty.
Excellent quality scan, and beautiful street scene. Perhaps a new photo would not look much different?
richard standley: I suppose it would not look much different apart from the clothes! Many thanks Mike.
One of your best posts, Richard.
Fabulous street scene, with so much to look at. Impressive quality, especially considering its path to Shutterchance.
richard standley: Thank you very much for your kind appreciation Ray.
Nice to see a moment from a long time ago. Interesting way in which it was developed too.
richard standley: Many thanks Mike.
That's really an interesting street scene! A lot of busy people, and each one without hecticness.
An excellent scanned photo!

Lovely picture. And developed by yourself too! Nice..

Bon vendredi, Richard.

Excellent street shot.
richard standley: Many thanks Helen.
I love the quality of this - doesn't it have a different feel to a digital b/w conversion? Was this shot with one of the Leicas you recently featured on your blog? I too use a Durst enlarger!
Ingrid
richard standley: Thank you Ingrid.I think it has a different feel. I find that the image has more depth. I shot this one with the Leica IIIg that I featured on April 23rd.
richard standley: Merci beaucoup Louis.
That is a great find - and it's strange...it has this paper feel
richard standley: Thank you Aksel. It has a paper feel as you say, and I really like it.
Outstanding! I can look at it forever... the longer you look the more you see. Excellent capture, thanks for sharing this (I was 9 at the time!)

Bon week-end à toi également. Amitiés. Richard
so much animation. The picture makes me miss my country...thanks
richard standley: Thanks to you Ada. I am missing Africa too!
It has a vintage feel way before 1969. Film still is able to capture something that digital is somehow missing and I don't mean the dynamic range. Great light in this.
richard standley: I think that it has a different feel than digital Daina. Thank you.
Wow, I was going to say it looks as if you found a 'time machine' Richard. But see it was actually a scanner ;-)
I hope you share more of you archives with us - this is a fascinating frozen moment in time - it is interesting to observe the interactions - the man drinking coffee while the woman tells him of her day; the people conversing around the mattresses, the little boy carrying a rug roll taller then him.
richard standley: Thank you for your kind appreciation Kevin. I 'll try and post one of these ancient pictures from time to time.
This is beautiful... It is most certainly a piece of art.
richard standley: Many thanks Earnest.
A fine street scene shot. I'm always impressed with the quality a Leica can produce when the user knows how to shoot and process the film correctly. This is a fine example of that quality.
I had an M3 once and sold it....sad mistake!
richard standley: Many thanks Don. For me, these old Leica lenses, including the M3 one are by far the best lenses I have ever used!
What a wonderful capture of the hustle and bustle of the market. Thanks for sharing a view from the past

I wonder if this place would look much different today. It certainly has a historical feel to it. Thanks for sharing it!
richard standley: Many thanks to you Martin. I suppose it would not look much different apart from the clothes!
Good scan Richard of a very interesting social study. I have thought about trying to scan some of my old prints, your success prompts me to have a go as soon as time, and decorating the kitchen, allows!
richard standley: Many thanks Brian. I trust that you will find the time to have a go at it. Looking forward to see one of yours!
Lovely subtle washed out tint to this Richard... My sort of image....richard
richard standley: Many thanks Richard. Cheers. Richard
Bien amicalement

Bare feet were/probably still are all the rage there (climate). Looks like an interesting market day; the youngster carrying that roll takes my fancy! I'd say your stay there would be a truly enlightening experience all round for you, yes?
richard standley: Thank you Smits. I was born in this country and spent 22 years of my life there. It's bee a great experience!
