Calculator ancestor.
I used to play with it at my father's office in Madagascar when I was a kid.
L'ancêtre de la calculatrice. J'avais l'habitude de jouer avec au bureau de mon père à Madagascar quand j'étais gamin.

Very interesting. First time I've seen one of this. What are they called. Thanks for sharing.
richard standley: Many thanks to you M'roy. This was called at that time a "computing machine".
It's also my first time to see one of these, Richard! Kinda reminds me of an abacus.
richard standley: It was called a "computing machine" in those days Ginnie. Thanks.
We are spoiled today by the new stuff.

Une antiquite en effet qui pese certainement tres lourd. Pas facile de la mettre dans sa poche
richard standley: Elle mesure 20 cms de large et pèse 6 kgs Olivier! Le meuble est en palissandre de Madagascar.
Someone has put a lot of mileage on it by use. I can see how that would be fun to play with, but looks complicated to use professionally!
That is a fascinating table that it is photographed -- is it some type of inlay?
richard standley: A very complicated "computing machine" to use Kevin!
This is a carved chest in rosewood my wife bought in Madagascar some 40 years ago.
Great photo love the table the calculator is sitting on.
richard standley: Many thanks Vintage.

I have never seen one like this, but like how you displayed it on a decorative wood background, with beautiful color tones. It gives me memories of the old time artifacts my parents had passed down from the generations before them. I was always fascinated when looking at them as a child.
